Bottled at a natural barrel-proof, this epic bourbon is not for the faint-hearted. Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is a truly awesome sipping whiskey of unforgettable quality.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel Review:

When I first tried Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel, I hadn’t heard of ‘nose’. In a way, that’s one of the reasons that I was so blown-away by this wow-worthy whiskey.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel has a nose that is nothing short of stunning. Seriously. Try the first taste of just the nose for a few minutes. Taste is not required to experience Blanton’s nose. Honestly, the nose alone is one of the greatest whiskey experiences ever.

As for the taste, well it’s just like the nose – very good in fact, very very good and again, it’s just like the nose. This means that taste isn’t that much different from the nose but its best to knock it back as you fill your nose with a rich and memorable aroma.

When tasted at cask strength, Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is a bit like a wild and roaring beast – one can sense the power of the taste but its a little disorientating.

I assume that much like a wild beast, the taste will fade, with good time of course, into something smoother and more tame.

The Bottom Line Of Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel:

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is just a massive whiskey. When first tasted, the whiskey is a little confusing but it slowly grows into a very attractive, masculine and very addictive whiskey.

I love the mix of woody and rich aromatics, the alcohol is as close to pure as I have ever tasted. Don’t panic though, this extreme alcohol dose is carried off with aplomb by the deep and impressive wood-aged flavours and a truly remarkable and mature taste.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is a little like your first date with a girl that you really, really don’t like. It’s a real struggle to enjoy but over time, you will eventually start to enjoy the taste of Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel.

However, if you think that you’re on your way to a great relationship, don’t expect to get married straight away. Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel needs to grow on you. In fact, it might even grow on the family cat, which would be a great thing for the cat.

Drinking Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel might not be the easiest task for a beginner but it’s worth the effort. It’s almost unfair to compare it to other bourbons but I will anyway.

It’s amazing to think that Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is a single barrel, batch specific bourbon but it forgives the lack of a good story. It has all the makings of a truly great whiskey but it’s not of the best stories or the best flavours.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is like a great chess player playing against a man with a mental condition. The chess player steps back, calculates the likely outcome of any move, makes a move and takes the game.

So, it doesn’t have the most amazing story in the world but it does have a great amount of complexity, a bittersweet ending and a great improvement with time.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is one of the greatest bourbons to have been aged for 8-10 years. Anyone who is used to the caramel flavours of Jack Daniel’s will be taken aback by the spice and wood flavours in Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel.

Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel is unforgivingly bold, has a classic American taste, has a brilliant nose, is a brilliant experiment and even if it doesn’t have the best story – it will become a regular in your whiskey cabinet.

The Final Word Of Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel :

I give Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel a final score of 4.5 stars but I’m only talking on behalf of people that have been training with oak-aged bourbon for a minimum of two years.
