Ground Beef Gumbo

  • 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 s oil
  • 2 meum onions (chopped)
  • 2/3 cucelery (sliced)
  • 2/3 cup een pepper (diced)
  • 3 cloves glic (minced)
  • 1 can (14.5 . diced tomatoes, with liquid)
  • 1 can (15 oz.omato sauce)
  • 2 cans (6 oz. etomato paste
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms (liced)
  • 3/4 lb. okra (with t ends trimmed off, larger pieces cut in half)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp bal
  • 2 tsp orega
  • 1 tsp chiliowder
  • 1/2 tsp min
  • Salt and freshlground pepper ttaste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  1. In a Dutch ovenr similar pot, over medium heat, heat the oil. When it’s hot, add the beef, onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic, stirring all and breaking up the meat so it browns throughout. When the meat is browned, drain the oil from the pot.
  2. Stir in all the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. Simmer uncovered 1 hour. Remove bay leaves. Goes nicely over rice. Serves 6.
